A special hosted discussion with
Malcolm Harbour, Member of European Parliament
Malcolm Harbour, Member of European Parliament & Chairman of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection, spoke at the ICAC offices on July 21st for a Q&A session on the latest issues in technology policy. We enjoyed a great discussion with Mr. Harbour and attendees.
Mr. Harbour spoke about the latest developments on net neutrality regulation in the EU Telecoms Package, which he steered through Parliament in 2009. The audience was also eager to hear Mr. Harbour's thoughts on the "three strikes" copyright enforcement strategy. Mr. Harbour also touched upon the importance of standardized data protection regulations amongst the EU member states to promote a single market, the consequences of categorizing Internet Protocol Addresses as personally identifiable information, and the Digital Agenda, the European Union's strategy to ensure the growth of the digital economy by 2020, notably targets for universal functional broadband coverage.
