Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has called for a debate on cybersecurity legislation in the first work period of the upcoming 2012 legislative session. Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Ranking Member Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Federal Financial Management Subcommittee Chairman Tom Carper, D-Del., are sponsors of the Cybersecurity and Internet Freedom Act (S.413) and similarly support efforts to address this important initiative, citing the "unacceptable risk for our country" that weak and/or inadequate cybersecurity measures present. This panel will address the challenge of integrating the various cybersecurity bill proposals, MOUs, roadmaps, initiatives, reports and plans existing within Congressional committees and various agencies, and focus on offering some clarification on how this important initiative can be advanced. Key staff and officials that engage with cybersecurity from various jurisdictions will hold a discussion on how multiple stakeholders can harmonize and coordinate their efforts on this issue.
