Lawyer by training who began career in government at the US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Export Administration, from 1991 to 1996.
Became involved in communications law and regulation when he joined a telecommunications law firm in Northern Virginia in 1996 at the time of the adoption of the U.S. 1996 Telecommunications Act. He focused on information services, Internet telephony and competition issues. He later worked as Senior Counsel for Teleglobe Communications Corp. a Canadian international telecommunications service provider where he worked closely with the US and Canadian governments on domestic and international telecommunications policy issues.
He joined the VeriSign corporate family in February, 2003 as Policy Director at Network Solutions. There he directed NetSol's policy with regard to ICANN and regulatory issues impacting NetSols service offerings. He joined VeriSign Government Relations in May, 2004.
