As Adobe's chief software architect, Tom Malloy spearheads development of advanced technologies and drives the company's leadership in software innovation. In his role as engineering lead for Adobe's Intelligent Documents business within the Office of Technology, he is helping extend PDF as the de facto standard for secure and reliable document transmission to automate document-based enterprise processes. He also focuses on external technology alliances and acts as a technology evangelist in the industry.
Formed in 2004, the Office of Technology includes the former Advanced Technology Group (ATG), which Malloy led for nine years. ATG's accomplishments include a number of the advanced features in Adobe® Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator®, Adobe Postscript®, Adobe Acrobat® and the Portable Document Format (PDF) technology.
Prior to joining Adobe in 1986, Malloy worked for Apple Computer, where he helped manage software development for the Lisa computer, the precursor to the Macintosh. Previously, Malloy worked at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) developing application prototypes.
Malloy holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University and is a member of ACM and IEEE.
