Kyle Dixon
Partner, Kamlet Shepherd
Mr. Dixon, partner, leads Kamlet Shepherd's Communications, Internet and Intellectual Property practice in the Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on the converging areas of communications, intellectual property, competition policy and related fields. Mr. Dixon will expand the firm's existing communications law and policy work, including broadband voice-over Internet protocol; cable, wireline and wireless Internet technology; telecommunications competition and regulation.
Mr. Dixon has more than 12 years of experience at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and outside government. As Deputy Chief of the Media Bureau of the FCC and Special Counsel to the Chairman for Broadband Policy, he helped to establish Internet Policy and create regulatory frameworks for broadband services. He worked across various bureaus of the FCC, including Wireline Competition, Media and Wireless and others. Prior to that, Mr. Dixon served as legal advisor to FCC Chairman Michael Powell. In addition, he served as senior fellow and director of the Federal Institute for Regulatory Law at The Progress & Freedom Foundation, a non-profit think-tank specializing in communications law and policy. In this role, he conducted research and testified before Congress on regulatory issues affecting broadband, voice over Internet protocol, cable set-up boxes, video competition, consumer protection, telecommunications competition and mergers. He co-taught a course in communications law and policy at Georgetown University Law Center.
